"How to Access Genius-Levels of Performance Through Your Company Culture"
Presentation Date, Time and Location - TBD
How do you build an extraordinary company? The answer used to be for leadership to add strategic design and operational value, while hard working, cheap, replaceable labor would follow the script written by leaders. Today, more than 85% of stock market capitalization is intellectual property, brand, services, and software. Extraordinary companies are now built by helping each person become better versions of themselves, which requires revolutionary management and leadership practices. Best-Self Management integrates the latest scientific thinking on organizational development; including the Growth Mindset, Strengths-based management, Psychological Safety, and Positive Psychology. All of these in concert, act like an iterative loop to continually support each employee on their journey during their tenure at your company. On top of our methodology we have built a culture of gratitude and appreciation and a focus on positivity, to create a more vital and physically/emotionally/psychologically healthier workforce, and helping relationships in our organization thrive. That translates to better performance. We have used this at 15Five for years to grow to almost 200 employees with near zero attrition, and were named by Inc. Magazine as one of the Best Places to Work in 2019, Glassdoor Best Places to Work 2020, and recently received Great Place to Work Certification.
1) Initiate a Best-Self Discovery process - "What's the path between where I am now and where I want to be?" This helps employees self-reflect and get reflections from peers and other assessments to better understand what drives them, what their strengths are, and then clarify this into a statement for themselves around their potential Unique Ability or Zone of Genius. This is a process that should be returned to and refined periodically as people grow and develop.
2) Creating Personal Development Objectives - This can cover anything from enhancing a strength to improving a skill, knowledge, or behavior. These should be focused on what an individual wants, how they want to improve, and where they see themselves heading. Tracking personal development in the workplace is a key driver of both employee engagement and organizational performance.
3) Building a Culture of Continuous Feedback - The final step is creating an avenue for managers and employees to track performance on objectives and determine if people are working in their Zone of Genius. David and Shane will share practices like a weekly check-in, 1-on-1 meetings, and a "Best-Self Review", and share how to respond to employee feedback so that people feel safe, listened to, and coached through their struggles at work.
