"What Neuroscience Reveals About Leading Change That Sticks"

---

Change efforts rarely fail because the framework is wrong. ADKAR works. Kotter works. More often, they fail because the conditions for those frameworks to succeed were never built.

After 15 years of helping organizations bridge the gap between strategy and execution, and supporting change efforts impacting hundreds of thousands of employees, Allen Hardin began to see the same patterns emerge. Drawing on those observations, Allen developed LUCID: five conditions that help create the foundation for meaningful, lasting transformation — Leader-Modeled, Urgent, Clear, Inspiring, and Dynamic.

While the concepts behind LUCID may feel intuitive, neuroscience helps explain why they matter. Research into how the brain processes attention, motivation, and change reinforces many of the conditions leaders need to create for people to engage with and adopt something new.

In this session, Allen will introduce LUCID as a research-backed mindset for building workplaces that are more engaging, fulfilling, and human. Rather than presenting another change methodology to implement, LUCID provides a practical lens for evaluating the approaches organizations are already using and identifying what may be missing.

Participants will leave with a new way to examine their next culture or change initiative, recognize the conditions that may be holding it back, and take practical steps to help change stick.

Participants will leave ready to:

  1. Understand the LUCID Conditions for Transformation. Explore the five conditions — Leader-Modeled, Urgent, Clear, Inspiring, and Dynamic — and how they influence whether change takes hold.

  2. Apply LUCID to Real-World Change Efforts. Use a simple, practical tool to assess an existing or upcoming initiative and identify which conditions may be missing or need strengthening.

  3. Build a Clearer Path to Adoption. Develop actionable next steps for creating the conditions that increase engagement, adoption, and the likelihood that change will stick.
